Giuseppe Festa: Voices from Middle-Earth
Giuseppe Festa is an Italian musician who was so inspired by The Lord of the Rings that he gave his own musical impressions to the sounds of Middle-Earth. In his own words: "The idea to create this music came from the desire to communicate some emotions, able to accompany in one’s own travel everyone who wants to walk on this Earth in the most attentive and lightest way it’s possible. " His CD "Voci dalla Terra di Mezzo" (Voices from Middle-earth) was published in 1999 by Pongo Edizioni Musicali.
Giuseppe also gives concerts with some fellow musicians in which they try to create a very unique atmosphere: "the lights switched off and, at the light of some Finnish lanterns, the musicians take the audience in a world made of Elves and other mysterious creatures, going through wild lands and a still intact nature. They sing about a time now lost hoping to give new life to it, at least partially, thanks to the tales, to the guitars and to the melodies of a flute."
His song "The Forest of Fangorn" won the first prize at the International Festival Celtica 2001 in Val d'Aosta (North Italy).

Try some samples of the Music |
Giuseppe Festa surprised me by sending his CD "Voci dalla Terra di Mezzo" (Voices from Middle-earth) to me. I have listened to the CD many, many times and I think it's absolutely great. The music is very soothing and really gives you that good old adventurous feeling. Although the lyrics are in Italian you can still feel what Giuseppe's impressions are of Middle-Earth and somehow they all seem to work out fantastically. The music is very easy going and if you like the music of Enya, Clannad or Sacred Spirit then you will definitely enjoy Voices from Middle-Earth. The character of the music is carried by the flute, the guitar and the soothing voice of Giuseppe. Our favourite track: The Forest of Fangorn.
